Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad is one of the premier institutes of India, established in 1999, as a Centre of Excellence in Information Technology and allied areas, the IIIT-A was conferred the Deemed University status by Govt. of India in the year 2000.
There are eight buildings of residence: 3 is for girls & 5 is for boys. These buildings of residence together can accommodate about 2000 students. Hostels have its overall supervision under the Council of Warden (COW). The hostel is managed by a Wardens (faculty members of the institute) appointed by the Director and he/she is assisted by an Asst. Warden in all matters relating to the hostel. The students can lodge their grievances on various issues related to the hostel in the hostel offices at any time.
Every room of every residence has a LAN connection. The hostels have dining facilities, three meals in a day (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner). Every hostel has a Mess Committee (Students) whose members assist the Mess Secretary in the discharge of his/her duties. Hostels have a good Gym with all basic amenities and outdoor game facilities (basketball court, Badminton Court, Volleyball court). Ambulances are available 24 x 7 for any emergency. Doctors and Pharmacists are available 24 x 7 in the health center of the institute.
